An 8-hour police stand-off with a Forest Park man Thursday night, ended with the man's death by a self-inflicted gun-shot wound, according to Clayton County Police.
Clayton County Police spokesperson, Lt. Rebecca Brown, said the incident began Thursday just before 4:30 p.m., when police received a call from a man saying his father was threatening to kill himself, and had earlier threatened the life of one of his adult sons, Simmie Bowen, 67, took his own life after the hours-long stand-off at Bowen's home, at 5638 Kent Lane, in Forest Park, Brown said. The incident did not involve a hostage, according to Brown. "According to family members, he had a history of this type of behavior.
