Clayton County Police were searching Thursday for a man who allegedly shot another man in the buttocks, led police on a brief chase, crashed his vehicle, and then fled on foot.
Officers were dispatched to the scene of the shooting just after 2 p.m., Thursday, at an apartment complex located at 6071 Highway 85, in Riverdale, according to Officer Kevin Hughes, a Clayton County Police spokesman.
After police arrived on the scene, a witness pointed out a possible vehicle involved in the shooting incident, and the police chase ensued, Hughes said.
"The incident began as a verbal argument between two males, and ended in gunfire, with one of the males being struck in the buttocks," said Hughes, in a statement.
The victim was transported to Atlanta Medical Center in an unknown condition, according to Hughes. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
Police impounded the suspect's vehicle, and are investigating leads to locate the suspect, Hughes said.
"They'll start with the information on the car, and go from there," he said.
