Clayton County Police said robbery was the apparent motive in an early morning shooting Sunday at the Laurel Pointe Apartments, located at 225 Johnson Road, Forest Park.
Sabas Caballero, 31, of Forest Park was shot in the back around 1 a.m., Sunday, and transported to Atlanta Medical Center in stable but critical condition, according to Clayton County Police Officer Kevin Hughes.
"Robbery appears to be the motive for the incident," Hughes said in a statement.
Witnesses reported seeing two to three men running from the scene of the shooting, and then speeding away in a white vehicle, according to a police report.
Sunday's shooting occurred just weeks after a fatal Mother's Day shooting at the same apartment complex.
Chavez Denard Watson, 25, of Forest Park, was shot and killed May 10, outside building 46 at the Laurel Pointe Apartments.
Police did not release a motive in the May shooting, but did name a suspect. On May 19, authorities announced they had obtained warrants for the arrest of Russell James Carter, 23, on charges of murder and aggravated assault in connection with Watson's death. Police continue to seek information leading to Carter's whereabouts, according to Clayton County Police Officer Tim Owens.
Anyone with information in either of the shootings is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
