June 7

The Clayton County Black Ministers Fellowship will host an Ecumenical Service on Sunday, June 7, at 3 p.m., at the Greater St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church. At that time, the organization will install the newly elected officers. Rev. Isaiah Waddy, the newly-elected chairman of the group and pastor of Greater St. Peter AME Church, will lead the 25-year-old organization, which focuses on education, the criminal justice system, business development, and youth programs. First Baptist Church of Riverdale, located at 6805 Church St., will host its Day Camp June 8-12, entitled "Jesus and Salvation." Children will learn some of the basics about Jesus and the plan of salvation through Bible study, music, drama, and crafts. The church will host its "The Fruits of the Spirit" Day Camp, which will focus on the basics of basketball, softball, volleyball, and soccer, June 15-19. June 8-July 31

Family Life Missionary Baptist Church, at 1115 Morrow Road in Morrow, will host the W.O.W. (Warrior of the Word) Summer Camp this summer from June 8 to July 31, from 6:30 a.m., to 6:30 p.m. The camp is a Bible-based summer camp, where kids can be free from bullying, teasing, fighting, cursing, and stealing. June 10

Ugandan Thunder, a group of eight young boys from Uganda, will appear at First Baptist Church of Lovejoy on June 10, at 7 p.m. The group will sing traditional African and American hymns, as well as music in Luganda, the major native language of Uganda. In addition, the boys will share their experiences growing up in Uganda. All funds raised from the concert will be used to benefit Pennies for Posho, a non-profit Christian organization that aims to feed hungry children in Africa.
