Ret. Lt. Col. John "Jack" Keppel
Ret. Lt. Col. John "Jack" Keppel, 66, of McDonough, passed away June 6, 2009. Jack was born in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Louis Ferdinand and Mariam Mary Krehn Keppel.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Harlow. Jack served his country as a decorated U.S. Army officer for 27 years. His passions included traveling, clocks and antiques. Jack and his wife, Jackie, spent the last 19 years in the clock-and-antiques business.
He was a devoted husband of 44 years, father and grandfather, who enjoyed his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie, of McDonough; daughters, Holly (Bob) Harlow, of Stockbridge, Kari (Ron) Johnson, of Loganville; grandsons, Bobby and Travis Harlow; sister, Ann Hartman, of Anoka, Minn.
Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted Friday, June 12 at 11:30 a.m., from the Georgia National Cemetery. Dorothy Kate Howell-Jones
Dorothy Kate Howell-Jones, age 80, of Griffin passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 12 at 11 a.m., in Horis Ward Tara Chapel. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 11 from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
A long-time resident of Griffin, Dorothy was a retired communication specialist with the U.S. Department of Army.
She is survived by her former husband, Ernest Jones of Griffin; two daughters, Rita Williams of Milner, and Sheila Manous of Barnesville; daughter-in-law, Sheila Howell of Lovejoy; eight grandchildren, Christy Cannafax, Kyle Hudson, Joseph Howell, Kerri Gordon, Shane Manous, Trixy Manous, Josh Howell and Corey Howell; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Peyton, Hope, Miranda, Skylar, Cole, Jordan and Emily. She is preceded in death by two sons, Joey Howell and Chris Howell; two grandchildren, Whitney Land and Jeremy Howell, and one great-grandchild, Jordon Land.
