A small fire forced the evacuation of a Clayton County day care center Friday morning.
Clayton County Fire Battalion Chief Landry Merkison said a contractor working on plumbing at the Safe Haven Learning Academy apparently started the fire around 10:30 a.m. Fire crews arrived shortly thereafter. No injuries were reported. "It was mainly just a lot of smoke," Merkison said. "It didn't take them [firefighters] any time to get it out." Safe Haven Learning Academy is located at 6343 Tara Boulevard, Jonesboro. - From Staff ReportsMore like this story
