Jeanne Wright Johnston
Mrs. Jeanne Wright Johnston of Jonesboro passed away June 16, 2009. She was 84. She was born Aug. 15, 1924 in Memphis, Tenn. She spent much of her life in Columbus, Miss., where she met and married her husband Harmon James (Jim) Johnston. She was a resident of Jonesboro for 46 years. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where she taught Sunday school in the pre-school department for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Johnston, and a daughter, Bea.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Roger Atkins of Jonesboro, Patricia and William Miller of Marietta, Melissa and Garret Izumi of Portland, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law, Harmon and Mary Johnston of Fayetteville and Mark and Terri Johnston of Canton. She was the beloved grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of five.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with the Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, June 19, at Ford Stewart Funeral Home, 2047 Ga. Highway 138, Jonesboro.
