Clayton County Police say a fatal shooting at a Conley Road townhouse complex Saturday may have been drug-related.
Just after 2 p.m., Saturday, police responded to the incident at the Lexington Square townhomes, located at 1625 Conley Road, Conley. Police said they found Onterio Perez Dorsey, 30, of Forest Park, lying between buildings 28 and 29. He had been shot once in the side, and later died as a result of his wounds, according to Clayton County Police Spokesperson Lt. Rebecca Brown.
Detectives believe the shooting was the result of a "drug deal gone bad," according to Brown, and have called on the public to assist in identifying suspects in the case.
"It happened in an area where we have had complaints before of drug deals going on," said Clayton County Police Chief Jeff Turner. "We will continue to increase our patrols in that apartment complex."
Turner said he encourages residents to continue to report suspicious activity.
"We definitely need their involvement," he said. "We need them to continue to partner with us in order to clean up the area."
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
