Clayton County Police have identified the man who was shot at the Tara Court Apartments in Jonesboro Tuesday.

Police say Terrance Payton, 25, who lives at the apartment complex, was grazed in the head by a bullet when someone shot at him Tuesday around 12 p.m.

Payton told police he did not know the man who "came from nowhere" and shot him at the complex on Summercourt Drive, according to a police report. Payton described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall. He described his assailant has having an afro-style haircut, and said he wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans, according to the police report.

A witness told police he "heard three gunshots outside his residence and looked outside to see two males scuffling," the police report states.

"He [the witness] stated he observed the suspect kick the victim and also observed him striking him with a rock repeatedly," according to the report.

Payton was alert and talking prior to being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Clayton County Police Spokesperson Lt. Rebecca Brown.

Meanwhile, three men arrested in a double murder that took place at the Tara Court Apartments on Jan. 18 continue to be held in the Clayton County Jail, according to jail officials.

Santonio Lucas, 22, Superiore Allen, 21, and Brandon Norwood, 22, all of Jonesboro, are charged with two counts each of murder and aggravated assault in the shooting deaths of Vandit Patel, 22, of Jonesboro, and Jimmy Prak, 23, of Stockbridge.

The district attorney's office said in March that the office was preparing to put the case before a grand jury for indictment.

Anyone with information in either case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
