Henry County Police have arrested three of four people suspected in an armed robbery at a local store.
A warrant has been issued for the fourth person suspected in the case.
The individuals in custody are: Shakia Shante Harris, 18, of Ellenwood; Terence Lanier Johnson, 18, of Rex; and Lauren Felice Mickens, 20, of Lithonia. They are each charged with one count of armed robbery. Police were still looking for Jarria Lewis, 18.
The incident reportedly took place Wednesday at approximately 9 p.m., at the Dollar General store located at 1786 Panola Road in Ellenwood. According to Police Capt. Jason Bolton, victims in the case reported that two of the suspects came into the store, wearing bandanas covering the lower halves of the their faces.
"One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, and the other removed an undisclosed amount of money from the store's safe," said Bolton. "Both suspects fled the store on foot as police responded to the scene."
Johnson, Bolton continued, was apprehended by the responding officers within 30 minutes of the robbery, and taken to the Henry County Jail.
"He was located in a wooded area behind the business," Bolton said. "Detectives learned during the investigation that the second suspect who took the money from the safe was a female identified as 18-year-old Jarria Lewis."
Authorities later identified Mickens and Harris as additional accomplices in the robbery, according to Bolton.
"Mickens acted as a 'look-out,' and entered the store prior to Johnson and Lewis," Bolton said. "Harris was discovered to have been involved in the planning of the robbery. It was her vehicle that was used by the other suspects to commit the crime."
Harris and Mickens were arrested the day of the robbery, and taken into custody. A warrant was issued for Lewis the following day, Bolton said.
Police believe two of the four suspects may have been involved in a separate armed robbery at another store, the same day as the one at the Dollar General.
"Just before 1 p.m., the Dollar Spree located at 2806 E. Atlanta Road in Stockbridge was robbed when a suspect entered the store and presented a handgun demanding money from the clerk," Bolton said. "It is believed he was picked up by an accomplice, a short distance away from the store. Arrest warrants are being sought."
Johnson, Harris and Mickens appeared Thursday in Henry County Magistrate Court, in connection with the Dollar General robbery. Harris, the only suspect who currently has an attorney, is being represented by the Public Defender's Office.
Hearings for all three were reset for July 24, in order to allow Johnson and Mickens to obtain defense counsel.
