Jo Alice Mayes
Mrs. Jo Alice Mayes, age 75, a longtime resident of Clayton County, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009.
Jo was the daughter of the late Joseph and Quay Harbin of Gadsden, Ala. Jo was a devoted wife to Jack, a Ford Motor Company retiree, and an incredible mother to Marsha, Keith and Heather. The true loves of her life were her three grandchildren, Kylie Jo, Peyton and Jackson. Mrs. Mayes was also an avid reader, an expert on family genealogy and loved spending time with her family. She particularly loved going to the lake and catching and cooking a mess of fish. During her younger years, Mrs. Mayes served as PTA president at Maple Street Elementary, West Clayton Elementary, North Clayton Junior High and North Clayton High School. She was always involved in local politics and was a well-known community advocate. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Jo Alice Mayes agrees that she was an amazing woman. Jo often said, "The Lord is my strength and the Lord is my shield." She also loved to say, "Live, love, and laugh."
She is survived by her husband, Jack; children, Marsha, who is married to David Hood of McDonough, Keith Mayes of Riverdale, and Heather, who is married to Todd Coates of Griffin. She has a sister, Janice Wade, and two brothers, Roy Harbin and George Harbin, all of Gadsden, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jo Alice Mayes will be conducted on Thursday, March 19, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Chaplain Ernie Henson and the Rev. Jody Shaw will officiate. Interment will follow in Westwood Gardens.

William Dwight Cain
Mr. William Dwight "Whitey" Cain, age 59, of Hampton passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
He is survived by wife, Linda Cain of Hampton; daughters, Mechell Cook of Hampton, Robin Petty of McDonough, Cathy Shea of Oklahoma, Cari Collum of Gray, Christie Adams of Locust Grove and Cindy Haralson of Locust Grove; sister and brother-in-law Joy Denise and Mike Webb of Snellville; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond Jerry and Sue Cain of Locust Grove, and Randy Lee and Nancy Cain of Griffin; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Charles R. Holloway
Mr. Charles R. Holloway of Forest Park passed away March 18, 2009.
Funeral services will held Friday, March 20. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m., at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Holloway served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the produce business at the State Farmers Market for over 40 years and was an ardent golfer.
Mr. Holloway was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Holloway; sister, Dorothy Bishop and brother, James Holloway, and is survived by his sisters, Betty Forrister of Forest Park, Sybil Bell of Vicksburg, Miss., and Eleanor Crowe of Morrow. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to your favorite hospice organization.
