Miriam Elizabeth Flournoy Thompson
Miriam Elizabeth Flournoy Thompson, 92, of Tifton died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the residence of her daughter in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Wiley and the Rev. Hinton Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, March 26, at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The deacons of Eastside Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 5, 1916 in Grantville to the late Bogus Flournoy and Hattie York Flournoy, Mrs. Thompson was also preceded in death by four brothers, Dewey Flournoy, Brock Flournoy, Roy Flournoy, and Elvin Flournoy, and two sisters, Julia Flournoy and Edna Tumlin.
Mrs. Thompson worked as the head cashier at Rich's at Southlake in Morrow. She had lived in Tifton since January 1998. Mrs. Thompson was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved to draw biblical illustrations. Mrs. Thompson studied the Bible faithfully and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Jeanette Feltman of Tifton and Mary Elizabeth and Billy Thompson, Sr., of McDonough; five grandchildren, Adam Feltman, Laura Spooner, Mark Feltman, Billy Thompson, Jr., and Michele Wiley; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Feltman, Austen Wiley, Jacob Spooner, Ty Thompson, Olivia Anne Wiley, Luke Spooner, and Nolan Thompson.
