A Clayton County judge denied bond Friday for one of three co-defendants in a Jan. 18 double murder at a Jonesboro apartment complex.

Santonio Lucas, 22, of Jonesboro is charged with two counts each of murder and aggravated assault in the shooting deaths of Vandit Patel, 22, of Jonesboro, and Jimmy Prak, 23, of Stockbridge.

The murders took place at the Tara Court Apartments, in what police said was a drug deal turned deadly.

"I do believe there is a substantial risk of influencing and intimidating witnesses in this case," Magistrate Bobby Simmons, who was sitting by designation as a superior court judge, said in denying bond for Lucas.

Superiore Allen, 21, and Brandon Norwood, 22, both of Jonesboro, also face two counts each of murder and aggravated assault.

Allen is also being held without bond, according to Clayton County Chief Assistant District Attorney Erman Tanjuatco.

A bond hearing for Norwood has been continued, according to Tanjuatco, but he could not give further details on whether a hearing date has been scheduled.

The district attorney's office is preparing to put the cases before a grand jury for indictment, according to Tanjuatco.
