Clayton County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Valya Lee announced Friday she will still hold a community forum at Forest Park High School Thursday, where she and other district officials will outline the school system's future and efforts made to regain the district's accreditation.
The forum, the last in a series of public meetings held around the county, was previously canceled by school system officials because of an unspecified scheduling conflict.
In a statement, Lee said the county's school board wanted the forum at Forest Park to continue as originally scheduled so the community could hear the information she has been sharing with community members at other forums. The Forest Park forum is designed to address the communities from Forest Park and Morrow high schools, according to the school system's statement. It will begin at 6:30 p.m.
"Board members felt it was important for residents in these portions of the county to have an opportunity to hear the information being shared through the update sessions first hand," Lee said in the written statement.
Forest Park High School is located at 5452 Phillips Drive, in Forest Park. Lee will also hold a community forum Tuesday for parents in the southern part of the county, at 6:30 p.m., at Lovejoy High School, 1587 McDonough Road, Hampton.
