Investigators in Clayton County are working to locate the family of a man who reportedly died in a hit-and-run incident over the weekend, as well as the person responsible for the man's death.

The case reportedly originated Saturday at approximately 11:18 p.m., at 6030 Riverdale Road in Riverdale.

According to Clayton County Police Officer Tim Owens, authorities were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call about a 24-year-old black male possibly having been hit by a vehicle.

"Engine No. 4 with the Clayton County Fire Department responded to the scene shortly after the call came in," Owens said. "When they arrived, they found no signs of life from the victim."

Police have determined the identity of the victim, but have not released his name, said Owens. "We are trying to reach his next of kin," he said.

The officer did not indicate whether there were any witnesses to the incident, or what type of vehicle may have hit the victim. "The responding officer turned the case over to our traffic unit, and they are continuing to investigate the case," he said.
