Morrow churches to host Shared Community Services

Sunday-Tuesday

Morrow Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Morrow, and Morrow First United Methodist Church will unite for their fifth annual Shared Community Services, from Sunday through Tuesday. The theme for the three days of services is "Dwelling in Unity." The first service on Sunday, May 3, is at Morrow First United Methodist Church with Dr. John Callahan of Morrow Presbyterian Church. The second service is Monday, May 4, at Morrow Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Quisenberry of First Baptist Church of Morrow. The third service is Tuesday, May 5, at First Baptist Church of Morrow with Dr. Ed Judy, pastor of Morrow First UMC. The community renewal services begin each evening at 7:15 p.m. The combined church choirs will present special music and a nursery will be provided. Morrow First United Methodist Church is on Jonesboro Road, next to Walmart. Morrow Presbyterian Church is on Lee Street, across the train tracks from Walmart. First Baptist Church of Morrow is on Lake Harbin Road, across from Connor's Florist.

May 7

The annual Clayton County Community Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Clayton County Ministers' Conference, will take place on May 7, in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The program will start at 6:30 a.m., at the National Archives Southeast Region, located at 5780 Jonesboro Road in Morrow. The guest speaker for this year's event will be Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. Music will be provided by local gospel recording artist "LIZ" Yancey and the gospel group, "ZAMAR." Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church, at 122 Watterson Street in Jonesboro, will host a Community Day on May 9 from 9 a.m., to 3 p.m. The event will include craft vendors, a fish fry, a yard sale, and a three-on-three basketball tournament. For more details, call (770) 603-7880.

Family Life Missionary Baptist Church, at 1115 Morrow Road in Morrow, is inviting members of the public to escort their favorite lady to its Mother's Day Luncheon. The event will include food, live music, and fellowship for the entire family. There will also be a "Parade of Hats," in which contestants can win prizes. May 16

Bethel United Methodist Church, at 245 Fairview Road in Stockbridge, will host a Fish Fry/Yard Sale/Car Wash on May 16, beginning at 11 a.m., to raise money for its mission trip to Honduras. The church is accepting prayers, donations of Vacation Bible School materials, and money to provide the spiritual strength and the assistance to make the trip. The ninth annual 5K Unity Run/Walk, sponsored by the Young Adults Ministry of Christians for Change Baptist Church, will take place May 16 at 8 a.m. The Run/Walk will begin at Church Park, at 6805 Church Street in Riverdale. Participants are asked to bring school supplies, which will be donated to local schools this fall. The church is encouraging clubs, fraternities, sororities, marching groups, and neighborhood groups to come out in numbers. The $10 registration fee includes a T-shirt. The Women's Ministry of Greater Faith Family Ministries is inviting the public to its Women's Ministry Weekend, May 16 and 17. The theme is "Prayer, Faith and Vision ... a Triple Threat to the Enemy." A Prayer Breakfast will take place May 16 at 9 a.m., featuring guest speakers Debbie Young of Joshua Generation International Prophetic Ministries; Sonya Primus of Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ; and Peggy Hale of Greater Faith Family Ministries. On May 17, at 10 a.m., Lady Marilyn Markham of Greater St. James COGIC (Chicago, Ill.) will minister. Greater Faith Family Ministries is located at 7340 Old National Highway in Riverdale.

May 17

Community Bible Church in Stockbridge has challenged its congregation to stay home from church on May 17. The church wants to reach out to those who may not be interested in coming to a church service by hosting gatherings in homes, subdivision club houses, and other venues. Friends, co-workers and neighbors will be invited to these gatherings to get to know each other, enjoy a cookout and watch the church's message via the Community Internet Campus.
