Morrow Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Morrow, and Morrow First United Methodist Church will unite for their fifth annual Shared Community Services, from Sunday through Tuesday. The theme for the three days of services is "Dwelling in Unity." The first service on Sunday, May 3, is at Morrow First United Methodist Church with Dr. John Callahan of Morrow Presbyterian Church. The second service is Monday, May 4, at Morrow Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Quisenberry of First Baptist Church of Morrow. The third service is Tuesday, May 5, at First Baptist Church of Morrow with Dr. Ed Judy, pastor of Morrow First UMC. The community renewal services begin each evening at 7:15 p.m. The combined church choirs will present special music and a nursery will be provided. The annual Clayton County Community Prayer Breakfast, hosted by the Clayton County Ministers' Conference, will take place on May 7, in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The program will start at 6:30 a.m., at the National Archives Southeast Region, located at 5780 Jonesboro Road in Morrow. The guest speaker for this year's event will be Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond. Music will be provided by local gospel recording artist "LIZ" Yancey and the gospel group, "ZAMAR." The ninth annual 5K Unity Run/Walk, sponsored by the Young Adults Ministry of Christians for Change Baptist Church, will take place May 16 at 8 a.m. The Run/Walk will begin at Church Park, at 6805 Church Street in Riverdale. Community Bible Church in Stockbridge has challenged its congregation to stay home from church on May 17. The church wants to reach out to those who may not be interested in coming to a church service by hosting gatherings in homes, subdivision club houses, and other venues.
