The Higher Living Community Impact Center, Inc., at 2450 Mt. Zion Parkway, Suite 400, in Jonesboro, will hold its next "Get Checking Class" Saturday from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m. The class, for individuals desiring re-entry into the banking system, is centered around financial literacy. Family Life Missionary Baptist Church, at 1115 Morrow Road in Morrow, is inviting members of the public to escort their favorite lady to its Mother's Day Luncheon. The men of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, at 1221 Morrow Road in Morrow, will be hosting and serving a Mother's Day Brunch, in the Parish Hall, at 12:30 p.m., Sunday. Members of the surrounding community are invited to come and join in the fellowship. Sunday has also been designated as "Hat Day at St. Augustine's." The First Baptist Church of Riverdale will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, May 16, at the Fayetteville Golf Course at Rivers Edge. A shotgun start will take place at 1 p.m. The cost per person is $60, which includes snacks, drinks, two meals, greens fees, cart, gifts, and prizes. Bethel United Methodist Church, at 245 Fairview Road in Stockbridge, will host a Fish Fry/Yard Sale/Car Wash on May 16, beginning at 11 a.m., to raise money for its mission trip to Honduras. The ninth annual 5K Unity Run/Walk, sponsored by the Young Adults Ministry of Christians for Change Baptist Church, will take place May 16 at 8 a.m. The Run/Walk will begin at Church Park, at 6805 Church Street in Riverdale. Participants are asked to bring school supplies, which will be donated to local schools this fall. The church is encouraging clubs, fraternities, sororities, marching groups, and neighborhood groups to come out in numbers. The $10 registration fee includes a T-shirt. The Women's Ministry of Greater Faith Family Ministries is inviting the public to its Women's Ministry Weekend, May 16 and 17. The theme is "Prayer, Faith and Vision ... a Triple Threat to the Enemy." A prayer breakfast will take place May 16 at 9 a.m., featuring guest speakers Debbie Young of Joshua Generation International Prophetic Ministries, Sonya Primus of Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Christ, and Peggy Hale of Greater Faith Family Ministries. Community Bible Church in Stockbridge has challenged its congregation to stay home from church on May 17. The church wants to reach out to those who may not be interested in coming to a church service by hosting gatherings in homes, subdivision club houses, and other venues. Friends, co-workers and neighbors will be invited to these gatherings to get to know each other, enjoy a cookout and watch the church's message via the Community Internet Campus. The Higher Living Community Impact Center, located at 2450 Mount Zion Parkway, Suite 400, in Jonesboro, is sponsoring a Paracletos Counseling Certification Training Conference from May 28 to May 30.
