Are you planning for success in life? - James Bell

Are things in your life going well for you? I hope they are and you are successful in realizing your dreams and goals.

I think most people are satisfied and happy when they are making progress in their life. The feeling that "I am doing good" and "getting ahead" produces satisfaction in our efforts to achieve and make a living.

One of the many important and basic things we can do to ensure success in life is to plan. The idea is to decide what you want in life, what you want to achieve, and then set some goals to guide you. Accurately determining abilities and opportunities is important here. Good counseling is a must, so talk to someone who is experienced and successful in the field in which you are interested.

Any good plan must be followed, if we expect to achieve the desired results. We must discipline ourselves to stay the course, to do our very best. Just half effort and little focus will not be sufficient. Plans must be evaluated and adjusted periodically to keep us on course.

One of the most important considerations for true success in life is to be sure we develop our abilities and talents in every area of our being. These include three major parts of everyone's life: physical, mental and spiritual.

The first two areas are pursued with some intensity, and are developed by all to some extent. Everyone realizes one must develop physically and mentally, but many do not consider the importance of spiritual growth and development.

Taking the necessary steps to include God in our lives is super important to full success in life. Believing in God through faith in Jesus Christ is the first step, the foundation for spiritual development. Jesus said, "I am the door, if any one enters by me, he will be saved." John 10:9.

See also Revelation 3:20 and Romans 10:13. When one accepts Christ through faith, he becomes a child of God. The Bible says, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His Name." John 1:12. (see also John 3:16 and first John 5:12,13.

Now, one must read and study the Bible, God's Holy Word, and the Christian's textbook. Study of God's Word, prayer and obedience to His teachings will give us a blueprint upon which to build our lives and be successful.

Finding and following God's will in our lives builds character and integrity into our personalities. Through our faith and dependence on Jesus Christ, He molds us and makes us more like Him every day. We find peace and satisfaction in life as we learn to praise, worship and serve God. No life is complete and successful without knowing God through His Son Jesus Christ.

If you are already a Christian, determine to learn more of God through Bible study and worship, and praise Him in the Church of your choice. If you are not a Christian, please decide to put your faith in Jesus today. Plan to complete your life by developing your spiritual capacity for God!

He will bless you and love you; He is always faithful and dependable. You can't go wrong with Jesus!
