The power of thinking big - James C. Bell

The Apostle Peter said he wrote both of his books in the Bible "to stimulate you in wholesome thinking (2nd Peter 3:1)."

Proverbs 23:7 says: "As he [man] thinketh in his heart, so is he." The way we think is very important, because our thoughts guide our actions. One can think small or negative, and his results will be the same.

I think there is power in one thinking big and positive. As I grew up, there were many positive influences in my life -- my parents, my teachers in school, and several of my peers, all were constantly encouraging me to do my best and telling me I was capable of doing whatever I wanted in life.

One of my college professors had a very positive influence in my life as he taught me to have a good attitude and set goals that would stretch my mind and ability. He was the author of a great book, "The magic of thinking Big, which was widely read and accepted in the business world.

It was powerful and inspiring and without a negative thought. His theme in all his classes was: Think big and be positive and you will accomplish your goals in life.

The greatest influence in my life I credit to my Lord Jesus Christ, for He has guided my thoughts and actions since I first put my faith and trust in Him. He is widely acclaimed as the greatest teacher who ever lived, and who lives today in the hearts and minds of those who believe and trust in God.

He teaches us today through the pages of the Bible that love for God and our fellow men is the best way to live. He is much more than a teacher, for He is actually God Himself!

Have you ever thought of Jesus Christ being God? Look in your Bible to the book of John, the very first verse: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." Now skip down to the 14th verse and read these words, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth."

Jesus was the "Word" and the Word (Jesus) was God! This is a tremendous revelation of the mysteries of God. It doesn't stop here, either. Verse12 says, "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name."

If we are children of God, then we are His sons and daughters, and if sons and daughters, then brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. We who have faith in God the Father through Jesus Christ are members of the family of God. We have been saved from hell and saved to Heaven, where we will live eternally with all the Heavenly family.

What a wonderful heritage we Christians have, and it is the gift of God; the great blessing He has reserved for those who believe in the great Name of Jesus Christ, who place their trust and very lives in God the Father.

The power of thinking big is given to us, and how could anyone, who hears His Word and His promises to love us and to do good for us, not accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord?

He wants to bless our lives far beyond even our fondest dreams. He calls us to Himself and seeks to enrich our lives and teach us how to live in wisdom and love of others. He promises us peace and joy as we live in His ways and bring honor and glory to Him.

Listen, lost sinner: He has made it so easy for everyone who believes to be saved and inherit all the riches of His grace.

To get into Heaven, we must have a relationship with God and that is easy to get: First, we believe in Him. Then, admit our sin. Then, confess our sins, which is simply asking God to forgive our sins through Jesus Christ.

Praise God for making this so easy for us! Will you have faith, believe in Jesus and ask God to forgive your sins? I pray you will.
