Suspect sought in several bank robberies

Morrow Police say a suspect, who allegedly robbed a bank on Southlake Parkway Monday afternoon, may be responsible for several robberies in the metro area, including one at a Jonesboro bank Monday morning.

Around 4:15 p.m., a suspect entered the RBC Centura Bank located at 1585 Southlake Pkwy., in Morrow and showed a teller a note demanding money, according to a Morrow Police report. The suspect's note said, "Give me all of your money, no dye pack, and I'm armed," Officer Josh Stroud wrote in the police report.

The suspect then told the teller to "hurry, you have 30 seconds," the report states. After receiving the money, the man ran out the front door and fled the scene -- with an undisclosed amount of money -- in a burgundy Dodge Intrepid with chrome wheels, Stroud said in the report.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, approximately five feet, five inches tall, and wearing a dark-colored Yankees hat, and a dark "hoodie" and jeans, the report states.

According to the document, about 15 minutes prior to the robbery, the suspect had entered the bank with two, black females, then walked out of the bank.

In the other robbery -- the one that occurred Monday morning at an RBC Centura Bank in Jonesboro -- the suspect also displayed a note saying, "Give all the money, and no dye packs," according to Lt. Rebecca Brown, of the Clayton County Police Department. The Jonesboro robbery occurred around 11 a.m., at the RBC Centura Bank at 7906 Tara Blvd., Brown said. The suspect in that robbery is also described as a black male, five feet, five inches tall, according to police documents.

Capt. James Callaway, of the Morrow Police Department, said, in addition to the similarities between the Jonesboro and Morrow bank robberies, Forest Park Police are investigating several bank robberies that fit the same M.O.(method of operation.)

Forest Park police confirmed in a press statement Tuesday that three suspects in two separate robberies at a SunTrust Bank, located at 141 Forest Parkway, are believed to be responsible for other bank robberies in the Clayton County area.

In the first robbery on Oct. 19, one "lone individual" robbed the SunTrust Bank after displaying a note demanding money. In the second robbery at the same bank, two individuals held up the bank on Oct. 26, also displaying a note demanding cash. No further description of the suspects was given.

Capt. Callaway, of the Morrow Police Department, said a task force is being formed to investigate the cases. Anyone with information in the Morrow robbery is asked to contact Capt. James Callaway at (770) 961-4006, or via e-mail at jcallaway@cityofmorrow.com.

Persons with information in the Forest Park robberies are asked to contact Det. Barry Morris at (404) 608-2366, ext. 712. Anyone with information in the other cases is asked to call 911, or Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477.
