Henry hospital to light holiday tree

Henry Medical Center will hold its seventh-annual Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting event on Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Stockbridge hospital's tree, which stands more than 30 feet tall, will be lit in front of the facility's South Tower atrium entrance, according to Michelle Nunnally, the hospital's public relations specialist.

The hospital is located at 1133 Eagle's Landing Parkway, in Stockbridge.

Nunnally, who is also the chairperson for Henry Medical Center's tree-lighting committee, said the event has been a success in recent years, and has attracted large numbers of area residents.

"We usually have a few hundred people, or more," said Nunnally. "[This year] we will have carriage rides with Santa, and musical entertainment provided by the Community Christian School chorus and the Cotton Indian Elementary School chorus. Henry Medical Center's Laurel Park Handbell Choir will also perform."

Nunnally said local soloist, Earl Parker, will sing "O Holy Night" during the lighting of the tree, which will be performed by Virginia Reeves, the longest-serving member of the hospital auxiliary. The event's sponsors, she said, include Brasfield & Gorrie contractors, the Henry Players and Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Although hospital employees typically decorate the tree, Nunnally said, workers at Christmas Decor in Locust Grove volunteered for the task this year.

Refreshments, including cookies, coffee and apple cider, will be available during the event. For more details, call Nunnally at (678) 604-1026.
