Fourteen teams started the 2009 Clayton County Middle School football season with hgh hopes.
After a six-week regular season, only eight squads are left standing, and they will fight it out over the next nine days to determine this year's county champion.
It all kicks off Tuesday as Tara and Twelve Oaks Stadiums play host to first-round doubleheaders.
Babb and Pointe South each finished the regular season with a 6-0 record and will go into league action as the teams to beat.
Babb won a coin flip before the brackets were drawn up, and they go into the tournament as the No. 1 seed, with Pointe South grabbing the second seed in this year's tournament.
Babb takes on either Adamson or Mundy's Mill, who were deadlocked and in a tie for the final playoff spot after finisning 2-4 Kickoff for Tuesday's first-round game is set for 5 p.m.
Pointe South plays Forest Park (3-3) in a first-round game at Twelve Oaks on Tuesday, also at 5 p.m.
In Tuesday's other game at Tara. No. 4 Kendrick (5-1) and No. 5 Lovejoy kickoff at 7 p.m.
Roberts (5-1) took the No. 3-seed spot and faces No. 6-seed Riverdale (4-2) at 7 p.m. at Twelve Oaks.
Just four days later, the first-round winners will buckle up their chin straps again as action moves to Twelve Oaks on Saturday for another doubleheader startng at noon and 2 p.m.
The championship game is set for 6 p.m. on Thursday night, Oct. 15 at Twelve Oaks.
