lbond@news-daily.com Clayton County Police have detained two men for questioning in the Thursday night shooting death of a man, who was shot in the garage of his Riverdale home. Officer India Smith, a spokesperson for the police department, said the men were detained Friday afternoon, but did not have further information regarding the detainees. Clayton County Police responded to a call of a person shot around 10:30 p.m., Thursday, in the 5000 block of Eagle's Crossing Lane, according to a police report. When police arrived at the location, they found Olakanmi Akinugbe, 39, lying in a pool of blood in the garage, near the door leading into the residence. He had a wound to the right side of the neck that was "bleeding profusely," and appeared to have another wound in the chest area, police said in the report. Medical personnel transported Akinugbe to Atlanta Medical Center, according to the police report. He later died, police said. The victim's girlfriend, Tandrina Johnson, said Akinugbe had left the house to "go get some chicken," about 45 minutes earlier, the police report said. Akinugbe called on the way back home and asked a juvenile, who answered the phone, to open the garage door, according to the report. "The juvenile then went downstairs, unlocked, and then opened the garage door and went back inside the residence," the report said. "The juvenile started heading up the stairs to the landing when she heard what she thought was the victim talking to the next door neighbor. The juvenile then heard the victim start to scream, and thought that the victim had slammed the garage door on his finger," police said in the document. Akinugbe then came inside the residence and shouted that he had been shot, and said he was going to die, according to the police report. Authorities are investigating the incident, Smith said.More like this story
