Will God protect Israel from her enemies

All through the Old Testament, we read of God choosing the Israelites as His people and sending prophets to tell them how they are to live, and how He will bless them and protect them from their enemies.

He promised Abraham that all the world would be blessed through his seed, and his people would be God's people. Israel has been recognized by the world as having a special relationship with Jehovah God.

In 2nd Chronicles 7:14, God said to Solomon, King of Israel, these words: "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land."

In chapter 12 of 2nd Chronicles, verses 6 and 7, the Bible tells us: "The leaders of Israel and the King humbled themselves and said, 'the Lord is just.'"

When the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, this word of the Lord came to Shemaiah (the prophet): "Since they have humbled themselves, I will not destroy them but will give them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem."

The Old Testament records many examples of Israel's straying from the Lord, and of His warning them of their destruction, if they did not return to Him.

The New Testament records the birth and life of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. He came to save all those who would believe in Him and trust Him to teach them the ways of God, and then to live for Him.

The verse in 2nd Chronicles has become very dear to all who believe in God through Jesus Christ. Those who do profess faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, believe Him to be Emanuel -- meaning, God with us.

Jesus Christ taught us in John 14:6: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." He later said in verse 9b, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. I am in the Father and the Father is in me."

Jesus Christ claimed to be the Messiah, the Savior whom the Jews were waiting for and praying to come. But many of the Jews would not accept Him, and do not, even today.

Jesus, Himself, called the Apostle Paul to be His instrument to carry "My name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel."( Acts 9:15.)

Here all peoples of the world became the people of God, and those who believed and accepted Christ as Savior became, and were called, "Christians," the chosen ones of God.

Today, there are those who threaten to destroy Israel, to wipe Her off the face of the earth. Now, back to the question. "Will God protect Israel from her enemies?"

Personally, I believe He will, because the people of Israel are still part of His chosen people. I believe they will humble themselves and pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, and then God will save them.

I know the enemies of Jesus Christ, and Satan, himself, will be defeated at the end of time, and Jesus Christ will return to claim His people -- those who believe and are faithful.

My friend, I hope you are trusting in Jesus and have the great hope and belief that He will return to take us to heaven to live with Him forever!

If you haven't heard the best news of salvation, then listen to this: "If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved, For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in Salvation." Romans 10:9 and 10.

I pray you will choose Christ today!
