Clayton County Police say they have arrested a man suspected in a series of burglaries at area gas stations.
According to GlenNeta Griffin, a public information officer for Clayton County Police, James Larry Johnson, 54, was wanted on three warrants for commercial burglary in incidents dating back to Sept. 10. Police say he is suspected in burglaries at the Fast Lane Gas Station, at 685 Battle Creek Drive in Jonesboro on Sept. 10; the BP Gas Station at 365 Flint River Road, Jonesboro, on Sept. 29; and the Valero Gas Station at 5591 Old Dixie Road in Forest Park on Oct. 5. Griffin said a lookout was issued for Johnson's white, 1995 Ford Escort after surveillance video from the first two burglaries showed Johnson, and the vehicle, at the scenes. She said an officer spotted the Escort on Friday and stopped the vehicle. She said the officer confirmed Johnson's identity and took him into custody on the outstanding warrants. Griffin said various items were taken during the burglaries. She said Johnson has been identified as a "person of interest" in other, similar burglaries in Morrow and Forest Park. Johnson is being held in the Clayton County Jail. According to online court records, a bond hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30. - From Staff ReportsMore like this story
