God wants all people to turn to Him - James Bell

We know by studying the Holy Bible that this is true: God loves all of us so much that He has provided His great plan of salvation for all mankind.

John 3; 16, a verse most of us know from memory, tells us of this fact. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life." This is the Gospel -- the story of how God loves us so much that He devised a plan to save all people.

He sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to live among us as a man, to experience life just as any man, to know pain and sorrow, to know joy and happiness. He was tempted by the Devil, just as we are, but He never sinned. He defeated Satan in every situation, and finally won the total victory over Satan and death by His glorious resurrection.

He set the perfect example for each of us to follow in our lives and provided the gift of eternal life for each of us. God wants each of us to repent, to turn to Him, believing and trusting in Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus told us in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life; No one comes to the Father except through me."

God has provided for our salvation. Jesus Christ has given His life for us. We have the greatest opportunity the world has ever known -- to become the sons and daughters of the Great God of the universe, and to receive our inheritance of living eternally with God, our Father, and Jesus Christ, our Savior, in heaven.

If this eternal life could be put on the market, people all over the world would be willing to give anything to get it. But the great news is, it's free!

Jesus Christ has already paid the price for us. He died in our place on that rugged cross, so that we - all mankind - could find forgiveness of our sins. Eph.2; 8-9, tells us, "For by grace are ye saved through faith and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast."

We only have to believe in God and trust in Jesus Christ for our salvation. That's all.

Now, here's the part that's hard for me to believe. Knowing this, people are not turning to God, but away from Him. Why? Why would any person with any common sense at all refuse to receive Jesus Christ as his or her savior?

There are only two reasons I can think of that causes this turning from God. One is the lies of Satan, himself. He wants to defeat Jesus so badly (even though he has already lost), and he knows the sinful nature of man. He preys on mankind, promising good times, fun and self-gratification, if only we will follow him.

He hides the truth from sinners by telling them they have a right to live their lives just as they please, and that what they are doing is not bad. It's OK, if you want it, get it, anyway you can, regardless of who it hurts or kills, or the homes it breaks up.

Don't worry about that, do as you please. You are the most important one, and you deserve it.

Now, the other reason I think many people are not turning to God may surprise you. I believe it's because most Christians are not telling the lost men and women about Jesus Christ on a one-on-one basis - face to face.

Instead of witnessing as they should, they make all kinds of excuses and refuse to give their testimonies of what Christ has done for them and how others can be saved, too. This is hard to say, but it is true.

If all Christians would determine in their hearts to tell someone about Jesus and how to be forgiven of their sins, we would see thousands upon thousands of people turning to God everyday.

There are many ways to witness: Write a note to someone, call them, send an e-mail, talk to your neighbors, your friends, your family. Find a way to tell others about Jesus, and lead them to Him in prayer. I pray you will.
