Bagley wins Ward 3 Forest Park election December 1, 2015

Candidate forum Monday in Forest Park

The Concerned Black Citizens Coalition of Clayton County will host a candidate forum Monday, for hopefuls in the upcoming Forest Park city elections.

The forum will be held at New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, at 5090 Springdale Road, Forest Park, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., according to Gail Davenport, the president of the coalition.

"We just [want to] tell our citizens they need to be informed and know who is on the ballot, so they can make an informed decision," Davenport said Friday.

She said all of the candidates running for office in the city have been invited to attend the event.

In Forest Park, elections are being held for the mayoral post and two of the city's council seats, representing Ward 1 and Ward 2.

Mayor Corine Deyton is seeking a second term, and faces two challengers, Darnell Moorer and Christine Ellington.

In Forest Park's Ward 1, Councilwoman Sparkle Adams will seek a second term against Kimberly James and Thomas Smith, Jr.

Forest Park Ward 2 Councilwoman Debbie Youmans will not seek another term, according to Forest Park officials. Deverick Williams, Karen-Brandee Williams (not related) and Donald Wright are running for that post.

Election Day is Nov. 3.
