Oct. 24

Community Bible Church, located at 2001 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge, will host a Household Yard Sale on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m., to 3 p.m. The event will include a "Baby Steps" class, which is part of Financial Peace University, a program which helps participants get out of debt. "I Pray for Riverdale!" will host a Prayer Walk starting at 10 a.m., in the neighborhoods surrounding First Baptist Church of Riverdale, located at 6805 Church St., in Riverdale. Dixon Grove Baptist Church, at 7690 Fielder Road in Jonesboro, will host its 53rd Men's Day on Oct. 25, during the 8 a.m., and 11 a.m., services. Clayton County Sheriff Kem Kimbrough will deliver an inspirational message at the 8 a.m., service and Georgia Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond will deliver a message during the 11 a.m., service. Oct. 27

The Good Shepherd Clinic 5K Fun Run and Walk will take place on Saturday morning, Oct. 31 at Clayton County International Park. All participants are encouraged to wear a costume and raise money for the clinic, which provides free medical care to Clayton County residents without insurance. Awards will be given to the individual and group with the best costume. In addition to the race, volunteers and sponsors will provide information on high blood pressure, Diabetes, and for a fee of $15, participants can receive an osteoporosis screening. On-site registration will take place between 7:30 a.m., and 9:15 a.m. Runners will start at 9 a.m., and walkers will start at 9:05 a.m. Registration fees range from $10 to $55, depending on the size of the group and the time of registration. The second annual Lady Life Youth Retreat will take place Nov. 6-7 at Paradise Gymnasium and Cultural Center, located at 4295 Hendrix Drive in Forest Park. Nov. 7

Light of the World Christian Tabernacle International Church, located at 5883 Ga. Highway 155 North in Stockbridge, will host C.O.M.E. (Circle of Mothers Empowered), a support group for mothers with children who are incarcerated. Greater Works Baptist Church, at 3296 Walt Stephens Road in Jonesboro, will host its annual Holiday Craft Expo on Saturday, Nov. 7, from noon to 4 p.m. People will have an opportunity to shop for one-of-a-kind treasures. Hand Crafters specializing in knitting, quilting, ornament decoration, crocheting, woodwork, baking, basket weaving, painting, and sketching, will display and sell their work. Jodeco Road United Methodist Church, at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge, will hold its annual Barbecue and Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m., to 5 p.m. Tickets for the barbecue are currently being sold for dine-in or carry-out orders. There will be a Bake Sale featuring homemade goods, a Craft Fair inside the church, and a Yard Sale outside the church. Harp's Crossing Community Theater presents, "Life, Death, and Two Strips of Bacon," at Harp's Crossing Baptist Church on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m., and 7 p.m. The play is set in the small town of "Mapleton," where life hasn't been the same since the Mapleton High School Red Rockets went to the state football championships. The Serve and Save Our World Foundation, Inc., is sponsoring a canned food drive. The foundation is in need of canned meats, fruits, vegetables, beans, and soups.
