Two men were arrested by Clayton County Police early Thursday morning, after the pair allegedly beat and robbed a man, who had apparently asked them for a ride to a friend's home at the Walnut Grove apartment complex in Jonesboro.

Cedrick Willingham, 40, of Forest Park, and Albert Dandridge, III, 37, of Summerville, S.C., were arrested shortly after 3 a.m., on Thursday, on charges of robbery by force and battery.

According to a police report, Bennett Diomond, Jr., 38, was staying at the Motel 6, at 6370 Old Dixie Highway in Jonesboro, where he met the two suspects staying in the room above him, and offered them cash for a ride to a friend's residence.

Once the three men arrived at the apartment complex, Diomond could not locate his friend's residence, according to the report. A short time later, according to the report, Dandridge allegedly told Willingham, "you need to take care of your business," and Willingham allegedly began to punch Diomond.

Willingham then reportedly held Diomond while Dandridge allegedly punched him, the police report states.

According Clayton County Police Spokesperson GlenNeta Griffin, Diomond suffered minor injuries.

"He had a swollen right eye and an open wound under his eye on his cheek," Griffin said.

During the altercation, the two suspects allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from Diomond's pockets and left the scene in a gray, 1986 Lincoln Town Car. Clayton County Police responded to the apartment complex at 2:57 a.m., and later arrested Willingham and Dandridge at 6331 Tara Boulevard, based on a description given to police by Diomond.

Griffin said Willingham and Dandridge were taken to the Clayton County Jail on Thursday.
