Fifteen residents were displaced, and eight apartment units destroyed, when fire broke out at the Baywood Park Apartments in Morrow Monday night, according to the Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Department.
"It took the whole roof off," said Battalion Chief Landry Merkison. The blaze, at 6655 Mt. Zion Boulevard, erupted around 7:20 p.m., according to Merkison. No one was injured in the fire. "Everybody was out of the building when we got there," he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Merkison said, adding that it "appears to have started in one of the upstairs units." Merkison said arson is not suspected at this time. The American Red Cross was on the scene to help displaced residents with housing, food and clothing, Merkison said. - Linda Looney-BondMore like this story
