Sept. 11

Dixon Grove Baptist Church, located at 7960 Fielder Road, will host a Praise and Revival Service on Friday night, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. Pastors R.L. and Lorraine White, of Atlanta's Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church, will serve as guest speakers. The service will honor Pastor J.E. Harris and First Lady Sylvia Harris for 29 years of service to the church. The Garrison Chaplain's Office of the U.S. Army 3rd Medical Command, and Operation Worship, are presenting a free concert by Bethany Dillon as part of the Patriot Day Remembrance and Celebration. The concert will take place Sept. 11, at 11:30 a.m., at Building 900 at Fort Gillem in Forest Park. Prior to the concert, there will be an interfaith service at 10:30 a.m. The concert and the service are free to all military service members, Department of Defense personnel and families. Sept. 11-12

Hampton First Baptist Church, located at 85 McDonough St., in Hampton, will host it's "Twice is Nice" kids consignment sale on Friday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m., to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 8 a.m., to 12 p.m. The proceeds of the sale will benefit the Awana Kid's Club. Sept. 12

St. Augustine's Episcopal Church will host a Free Community Breakfast in the Parish Hall from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12. The entire community is invited. Special guests will include Clayton State University faculty, staff and retirees, as well as the Clayton County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). Concessions will be offered at 5 p.m., and the movie will start at 5:30 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is one non-perishable food item per person. Sept. 27

First Baptist Church of Jonesboro, located at 147 Church St., will host the "Charting the Course" parent seminar with Christian author and speaker, Benny Proffitt, on Sept. 27, from 12:15 to 3:30 p.m. The seminar will focus on how to raise productive citizens of high moral and ethical character, despite the distractions and pressures of society. Sept. 27 to Oct. 31

Divine Faith Ministries International and pastors Donald and Gwen Battle will host the second annual International Week 2009, starting Sunday, Sept. 27 at both the South Campus, located at 9800 Tara Boulevard, in Jonesboro, and the North Campus, located at 4725 River Green Parkway, in Duluth. Each night at 7 p.m., the church will focus on diversity in Caribbean, Indian, African, Asian and Hispanic cultures. Covenant Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville will host the second annual Lynn Wheeler Benefit Golf Tournament at Durham Lakes Golf and Country Club in Fairburn on Sept. 30.
