The Conservation Stewardship Program's enrollment period will be open until Thursday, Sept. 17. Applicants must be farm operators who are recorded in the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency records, have documented control of the land, are in compliance with wetland and highly erodible land provisions, and supply the necessary information to complete the application and ranking process. Persons, entities, corporations and American Indian tribes are eligible for the program. Participants may register through Sept. 25 for the annual "City of Forest Park/Forest Park Dwarf House 5K Fun Run/Walk," which will be held Sept. 26 at 8:30 a.m., in Starr Park, 803 Forest Parkway, Forest Park. Throughout the month of September, the Clayton County Headquarters Library will display items from the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrating the U.S. Constitution, and art work by Jerome Lawrence. The Arts Clayton Gallery will exhibit "The Georgia Watercolor Society 30th Annual Members' Exhibition," until Oct. 3, Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m., to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m., in its main gallery, 136 South Main St., Jonesboro. Arts Clayton is accepting applications for the "Grassroots Arts Program" for fiscal year 2010. The deadline is Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. The statewide program encourages local collaborations among artists, art organizations and non-art organizations, in order to serve a broad range of Georgia residents. Funding for art projects is open to non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, or units of local government. The Georgia Department of Transportation is accepting applications for the 2009 "GATEway Grant" program. The deadline is Oct. 30. Applicants should mail the application to the Georgia Department of Transportation Landscape Architecture Section, 600 W. Peachtree St. NW, 10th floor, Atlanta. The grant is used toward purchasing and installing plant material on state routes in community landscape projects located on public roads. Applicants who are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $50,000 include any organization, local government, or state agency. Arts Clayton, will conduct three remaining free "Grassroots Arts Program" workshops: Thursday, Sept. 17 at 1:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 10 a.m.; and Sept. 26 at 10 a.m., at Arts Clayton, 136 South Main St., Jonesboro. The workshop will clarify the grant-writing process for those interested in applying for the Grassroots Arts Program for the 2010 fiscal year. Cole Bros. The Alzheimer's Services Center will present a grand spa day on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 9 a.m., to 1 p.m., at the Alzheimer's Services Center, 6701 Ga. Highway 85, Riverdale. This is a fund-raising event with a goal of raising money so the center will be able to continue services to its clients.
