Thomas Jack Norman

Thomas Jack Norman, age 54, of Rex, died on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m., at Pope Dickson & Son-Jonesboro Chapel with Pastor David Riley officiating. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Norman; daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Chris O'Leary; daughter, Kristin Cowe; mother and step-father, Catherine and Hugh Stacey; sisters, Bonnie O'Donnell and Connie Lorello; grandchildren, Donavin O'Leary, Jordan O'Leary, Aislinn O'Leary, Jacob Cowe and Victoria Cowe; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Les Horton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lula and Marv Jones, Sherry and Scott Warth, Lisa and Mike Stevens; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard and Roberta Edwards, Ron and Joyce Edwards; brother-in-law, Randy Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

Robert C. Montgomery

Robert C. Montgomery, 75, of Jonesboro passed away Sept. 16, 2009 following a long illness after a stroke. He was preceded in death by his younger son, Joel Matthew, and his brothers, Ben, Clinton and Henry.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna Faulkner; his son, R. Christopher, Jr.; his 91-year-old sister, Tommie Webb of California; cousins, nieces, nephews as well as good friends.

Bob graduated from Jonesboro High, Georgia State University and John Marshal Law School. He joined the Marine Corps after high school and served in Korea. He graduated college and joined the Army with a commission, after which he served as the first probation officer of Clayton County and attended law school at night. He absolutely loved the law and was very content being a small-town lawyer.

He was a longtime member of First Baptist Jonesboro, where the memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. W. Irvin Pearre on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends the hour before. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the ministries of First Baptist Church, P.O. Lisa Leming Mooney

Mrs. Lisa Leming Mooney, age 51, of Conley died Sept. 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy H. Leming.

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne Mooney; daughters, Jessica Clark, Michelle Mooney Thatcher, Erica Dailey; son, Brett Dailey; mother, Elaine Leming; grandchildren, Alexis Clark, Isaiah Gates; and sister, Stacy Weaver.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the Jonesboro Chapel of Pope Dickson & Son with Pastor Charles Huggins officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Steve Michael Sams

Steve Michael Sams, 55, of Riverdale passed away Sept. 17, 2009. Metro Embalming & Crematory, Inc., is charge of the arrangements.

Ida Lee Johnson Smith

Mrs. Ida Lee Johnson Smith, age 90, of Riverdale, passed away Sept. 20, 2009. Mrs. Smith was born in Lindale, Ga., the daughter of the late Ida Rose and William Oscar Johnson. She was a member of the Tabernacle Assembly of God. Mrs. Smith was a beautician for 60-plus years. She enjoyed her family, reading her Bible, church, cooking, her animals and eating out. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Vernon Smith, and sisters, Mamie Garrett, Lula Beck Nichols and Mildred Whiteside.

Survivors are her children, Diane S. Ivey (Jesse) of Locust Grove, Sharon McKenzie (Rick) of Fayetteville, N.C., Phillip Smith (Paula) of Lawrenceville and David P. Smith of Riverdale; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Floriene Wilkinson of Ceres, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday, Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m., in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor David Smith and Pastor Rick McKenzie officiating.
