A black female was hit by a car and decapitated while attempting to cross Tara Boulevard at the intersection of North Avenue in Jonesboro, just after 8:30 p.m., on Tuesday night, police said.
A maroon Acura Legend was traveling northbound on Tara Boulevard, in the right-hand lane, when it hit the female, Clayton County Police Spokesman Officer Otis Willis, III, said. It was not immediately clear which side of the road the female was crossing from, Willis said. Police had not determined the female's identity late Tuesday night, he said. "The pedestrian rolled onto the car due to the impact, and was dismembered," Willis said. He said the male driver pulled off to the side of the road after the impact. Police were called to the scene at 8:46 p.m., Willis said, and were still doing blood work on the driver and interviewing him at 11 p.m. Willis said the accident was still under investigation, but the driver had not been charged. - Curt YeomansMore like this story
