A College Park teenager is charged with aggravated assault after police say he stabbed his father in the chest Saturday, following an argument over dishes in the sink.
"The father came into the juvenile's room, and they engaged in a verbal altercation due to him [the juvenile] leaving dishes in the sink," said Officer Otis Willis, a spokesperson for the Clayton County Police Department.
"He pulled the blankets off the juvenile, and said that he observed a knife in his [the juvenile's] hand. Then he [the juvenile] stabbed him," Willis said.
The incident occurred in a home on Brookstone Road in College Park around 10 p.m., Willis said.
The victim, who was allegedly stabbed in the upper right chest by the 14-year-old, survived the attack, and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, according to Willis.
"The juvenile injured his hand in the process of stabbing his father, and he was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center," Willis said. "After the juvenile was seen [at the hospital], he was transported to the Clayton County Regional Youth Detention Center [in Lovejoy]," he said.
Willis said the father and son had a history of arguments, however, he did not have information on whether previous arguments involved violence.
