A woman found dead late Thursday night, after a fire at a home on Fieldgreen Drive in Jonesboro, has been identified by authorities as 68-year-old Gloria Conkle.
Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services Battalion Chief Landry Merkison said a Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner determined Conkle died of smoke inhalation.
Authorities were called to the home around 10 p.m., Thursday. Merkison said that while the fire, which started in a bedroom, does not appear to be suspicious, investigators were still working to determine its cause.
"Right now, we believe it's accidental in nature," he said Tuesday. "We're just trying to figure out what that [cause] is."
