BOC asked to consider liquor-by-the-drink from Hwy. 16 restaurant

The Butts County Board of Commissioners, at its regular monthly meeting held Monday, March 8, was asked to consider Sunday "liquor-by-the-drink" sales by Steven Van Thomason.

Van Thomason owns the restaurant Wings & Brews on Highway 16.

Some local restaurants currently serve alcohol on Sundays.

County Administrator Alan White said a restaurant's income must be 51 percent food sales for it to be eligible for Sunday liquor-by-the-drink sales.

Van Thomason's request could be placed on the ballot as early as July. Placement is contingent on the necessary paper work submitted to the county's Community Services.
