The Sylvan Grove Hospital Auxiliary met on Tuesday, March 16 at the Butts County Senior Center. President Miriam Duffy called the meeting to order and led the group in the Auxiliary pledge and prayer. The major items of business were the Appreciation Luncheon for the hospital staff that will be on Tuesday, May 11 and the awarding of 2010 scholarships.
Guidelines for the scholarships are as follows: The Sylvan Grove Hospital Auxiliary will offer two scholarships this year. The amount of the scholarships will be $1000 each.
The scholarships will be offered to high school seniors and residents of Butts County who are pursuing a course of study in a medical field. High school seniors and county residents will have equal consideration. Former recipients may apply for another year and will be given the same consideration as other applicants.
All applicants must have been accepted or enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning that offers a program in the applicant's desired medical field (or offers a program that will lead to admission to and institution that offers the desired field.) High school seniors must have a 3.0 or above G.P.A. Other applicants must be in good standing with their institution.
Applications may be picked up and returned to the counselor's office at the high school or the Administrative Office at the hospital.
Applications are due Saturday, May 1. Late application or applications that are not completely filled out will not be considered.
