Butts County's LEPC and the Sheriff's Office have banded together to raise money for Jackson High School's Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA). All money raised will be used to send JHS HOSA to national competition in Orlando.
Jackson's HOSA organization, under the advisement of health occupations instructor Jodi Braswell, has grown steadily over the last few years in activities, enthusiasm, and numbers. Students have recognized the widening opportunities in health careers and have taken the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience outside their classrooms through HOSA.
A major part of involvement in HOSA is community service, giving back to the community both now as a student and later as a member of the health occupations field. Jackson's HOSA has done special projects to help the Bailey family, whose infant twins required extensive medical services. The club has organized a Blood Drive.
HOSA members also enjoy social activities, including a paintball challenge against the JHS SkillsUSA club.
There are over 5,800 HOSA members in Georgia and over 99,000 HOSA members in the other 43 states that have HOSA clubs.
A golf tournament sponsored by the LEPC to benefit HOSA will be held at Hickory Hill Golf Club on Wednesday, April 14.
Tournament cost is $60 per person or $240 per team. Entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, range balls and lunch. Gift certificates will be awarded to the first three placing teams. First prize is $200; second prize is $150; third prize is $100.
