$35,000 in pot found in home

Clayton County police say they found $35,000 in suspected marijuana after responding to an alarm call at a Riverdale home early Sunday morning.

Six thousand dollars in cash and several guns were also found in the home at 6055 Camden Forest Drive, according to police.

Clayton County Police Lt. Tina Daniel said, in a statement, that police responded to the alarm around 1:30 a.m., and found the front door had been forced open.

She said that while searching the home for any possible suspects, or the homeowner, police found small bags of suspected marijuana and a scale in the kitchen. According to a police report, officers also found several sealed bags of suspected marijuana inside a large, open trash bag, in a container in the tub of a guest bathroom.

The homeowner, Kerry Anton Bettis, 27, was reportedly at the movies when police were called to the home, according to Clayton Police Officer Otis Willis, III. The police report indicates that when Bettis came home, he was taken into custody.

The charges against him include trafficking marijuana and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

The police report did not indicate whether anything had apparently been taken from the home prior to officers' arrival.
