CSU finishes eighth at Peach Belt Conference Golf Tournament

The Clayton State Laker men's golf team recorded an eighth-place finish on Tuesday at the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens.

The Lakers shot a final-round score of 304 and finished with a 913 for the three-round event. Clayton State finished one stroke behind Lander and three strokes behind Montevallo. The Lakers edged Flagler by three strokes.

Georgia College used a tremendous final round to win the PBC Championship with an 881, eight strokes ahead of USC Aiken.

Individually for Clayton State, senior All-American Wade Binfield finished tied for 20th overall with an 11-over-par 227 (74-78-75). Binfield, the defending PBC champion, was 13 strokes off the pace of individual low medalist/PBC champion Jordan Walor from UNC Pembroke.

Overall, Clayton State had four players in the Top 25. In addition to Binfield, senior Neil Thomas finished tied for 22nd with a 12-over 228 (78-77-73), while junior Adam Novakowski (73-77-79) and sophomore Andy Bate (76-76-77) both finished tied for 25th with a 13-over 229.

Freshman Michael Lee rounded out the Laker scoring finishing 51st with a 242 (79-84-79).
