Dutchtown girls soccer beats Stockbridge
The Dutchtown girls soccer team got plenty of offense out of its squad and played some stellar defense Wednesday afternoon en route to a 5-0 victory against Stockbridge.
Codie Williams and Kallie Browning led the way with two goals each.
Erica Schiller also found the back of the net on a goal.
Missy Green added two assists for the Lady Bulldogs.
Lovejoy soccer team falls in OT to Newnan
Cheyna Williams helped Lovejoy put a scare into Area 4-AAAAA leader Newnan. Williams scored two goals for Lovejoy that gave the Lady Wildcats leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before the Lady Cougars scored in the 71st minute of play to force overtime.
Newnan's Kate Lawrence scored the game-winner on right-wing cross that caromed off a Lovejoy defender in the first five-minute overtime period for the 3- 2 victory.
Dutchtown falls to Alcovy in Region 4-AAAA baseball
The Dutchtown baseball tean lost to Alcovy 9-3 in a Region 4-AAAA game on the road in Newton County on Wednesday.
The contest was full of fireworks in the fifth after Dutchtown's Trey Nelson hit what looked like a three-run homer. The umpire in the field called in a ground-rule double, causing Bulldog head coach Michael Breedlove to come out of the dugout to argue.
Breedlove wasn't around for the rest of the game after being ejected from the game.
"We played hard, and I am proud of the way we played on the road against a good team," Breedlove said.
Despite losing his home run, Nelson finished the game with two hits and two RBIs.
Arron Downing had three hits.
Kellan Holiday, and Ryan Cason each had RBIs.
Manuel Corrales, Ladarious Walker, and Riley Presnell each pitched for the Bulldogs.
Clayton County School System to hold golf tourney
The Clayton County School System will hold a benefit golf tournament on April 23, 2010 at the Lake Spivey Golf Club.
The format for the tournament will be a Noon shotgun start. The tournament is open to teams of four with a cost of $400 per team.
Proceeds go to scholarships for deserving Clayton County students.
The tournament will feature a hole-in-one contest on a hole to be designated later with a car donated by Allan Vigil Ford.

Atlanta bowl extends
partnership with SEC
ATLANTA -- The Chick-fil-A Bowl will be hosting a Southeastern Conference team through 2013.
The Atlanta bowl announced Wednesday an extension of its partnership with the SEC.
A team from the conference has played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl every year since 1992, when it was still known as the Peach Bowl. Under the current arrangement, an SEC team faces a squad from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
