The future of the PGA Tour might be coming to the Southern Crescent this week.
For the first time ever, Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club will play hos to the the 2010 Crystal Lake Open
Crystal Lake Golf and Country Club is located in Hampton and measures 7,203 yards.
The event is part of the National Golf Association/Hooters Tour where prize money is basically paid out as part of each tournament's entry fees.
The NGA/Hooter Pro Golf Tour began in 1988.
It features several players who eventually graduated to the PGA tour, including last year's British Open champion and Georgia Tech alumnist Stewart Cink abd 2007 Masters champ Zach Johnson.
The four-round event begins on Thursday and like the better known PGA tour the field will be cut on Friday for the final two weekend rounds.
Qualifying rounds will start today at 7:30 with a pro-am slated for the course in Hampton scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m.
A full tournament field will be released today night after a qualifying round is played.
The main event then starts Thursday beginnng at 7:30 a.m and continue each day through the weekend.
Admission to the tournament is free.
