Clayton County Police offered few details in a Wednesday night shooting at a Stockbridge apartment complex that left one man dead.
A 23-year-old, white male was shot at Hyde Park Manor Apartments on Mt. Zion Road around 8:50 p.m., on Wednesday. Police say the man, who drove a black "Nissan-make" vehicle, was shot following a transaction with two black males driving a white "Saturn-make" vehicle.
"It appeared to be some sort of exchange," said Clayton County Police spokesperson, Lt. Tina Daniel. "A black vehicle pulled up that had a white male in it. Then a white vehicle pulled up that had two black males in it. At some point, [one of] the black male[s] shot the white male. According to witnesses, they [the black males] took something from the vehicle and fled the area."
Daniel said the 23-year-old, white male was alive at the scene of the shooting, and died shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
The name of the victim, descriptions of the suspects, and a description of the contents stolen from the victim's car were withheld by police on Thursday. Daniel said details are being withheld while the matter is still under investigation.
"At this time, we don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the investigation," Daniel said.
