Truett's Grill in McDonough will participate today in an inaugural radio event, designed to raise money to help babies in crisis.

The restaurant, at 1785 Jonesboro Road, will join in the Southern Crescent Broadcasters for Babies event, from 5 p.m., to 9 p.m, benefiting the March of Dimes. The fund-raiser will be broadcast live on the Fun 101.1 FM radio station, from the Truett's location in Griffin.

Other restaurants, which are scheduled to participate, include Chick-fil-A Dwarf House locations in Fayetteville and Newnan, and the Chick-fil-A Thomas Crossroads in Coweta County.

Krissy Coen is the marketing representative for Truett's in McDonough. She said management at her restaurant was eager to "do our part" to help the March of Dimes. "They do so many good things, with research and programs aimed at preventing prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality."

Representatives from each restaurant will be featured in live call-in interviews, during the event, to encourage listeners to donate money to the March of Dimes. Customers at each restaurant will also have an opportunity to meet March of Dimes ambassador-families and volunteers.

Melissa Cox, community director for the March of Dimes, brought the event to the Southern Crescent. Cox said she approached unit managers at each restaurant about participating, and is hopeful customers and listeners will do the same. "It's just a way for us to broaden March of Dimes awareness to people in the community," said Cox. "If people aren't able to stop by any of the Truett's locations Friday night, they can call 1-800-4-BABIES to make a donation," she said.

The phone line will be available today from 6 p.m,. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m, according to Cox. For more information, visit www.marchofdimes.com.
