The Bible, God's Holy Word, tells us that no one knows when Jesus will come again (1st Thessalonians 5:2).
People worry about when the world will end and when Jesus will come again to get His church. The Bible teaches that He will come "as a thief in the night,"
(2Peter 3:10), or when no one is expecting Him.
This time is called by many names. "The day of the Lord" goes back to Amos 5:18, in the year 760 BC. It was a period of great prosperity and military strength for the Northern Kingdom of Israel.
It was also a time of idolatry and extravagant indulgence in luxurious living, immorality and corruption. Sound familiar? As a consequence, God would soon bring about the Assyrian captivity of the nation. Could America soon face a similar fate?
In the Old Testament, it was a time when God would bring about judgment or a blessing. In the New Testament, the thought of judgment continues (see Romans 2:5, and 2 Peter 2:9).
But, it also is called "the Day of Redemption" (Eph. 4:30), "The Day of God" (2 Peter 3:12), or of Christ. John 6:39-46 calls it, "The Last Day." Here Jesus says his "Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have Eternal Life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
Isn't this a wonderful promise for all who believe in Jesus Christ and hope for eternal life with Him in heaven?
We should not worry about such things as when the world will end, or when Jesus will come again, but rather have a strong faith and belief in Him who has promised to save us unto eternal life.
We should be more concerned about doing the will of God while we are here on earth. The Bible plainly tells us we should love each other and treat all people as we want to be treated.
His will for all Christians is that we should witness His goodness and salvation and share this great truth with the lost people of our time.
Please read the 21st chapter of Revelations, for here John tells us of the New Jerusalem. In verse two, he writes; "I saw the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God,"
In verse 3, he says, "Now the dwelling place of God is with men and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God."
Verse 4 says, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes; there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain." Praise God! I want to be a part of this great happening! I pray that you will be as well!
If you are not a Christian, if you know you do not have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, please make up your mind to do this today.
It is urgent for you to get right with God now, before it's too late! Judgment Day, as we have discussed here in this article, might be today or tomorrow -- there is no time for delay or putting off such an important decision or action.
It's really simple -- just admit your sin, state your belief in Jesus Christ and ask God in prayer to forgive your sin. I pray you will take this opportunity, right now as you read this article, to accept Jesus as Lord of your life.
