The wife of former Clayton County Police Chief Jeff Turner, as well as some of his supporters, are inviting members of the community to attend a fund-raising party for his legal defense fund tonight, from 7 p.m., to 9 p.m., at Luella's Restaurant, which is located at 7955 Tara Blvd., in Jonesboro.
The Clayton County Board of Commissioners removed Turner from his position as the chief of the Clayton County Police Department last December, and transferred him to the Clayton County Regional Law Enforcement Academy, as its director. In late June, the commission voted to close the academy. The county officially eliminated Turner's position on Aug. 6. He has retained legal representation to assist him with his situation. — Curt YeomansMore like this story
