A charity motorcycle ride will be held this weekend in McDonough, in memory of a woman who died in March.
Ashley's Memorial Ride will begin Sunday at 12 p.m., at Southside Steve's, located at 715 Industrial Blvd. The fund-raiser is being organized in honor of Ashley Hamrick. She died March 15, at the age of 24, of pulmonary arterial hypertension, according to the project's coordinator, Henry County Police Training Officer Carol Wood. The disease involves an increase in blood pressure in the pulmonary artery, according to WebMD.com. The hour-long ride will cover the south end of Henry County, Wood said. Wood added that proceeds from the ride will go to Hamrick's children. "When she passed ... she had just given birth to her second son two days earlier," said Wood. "As a mom, that hit a chord for me." The officer said she hopes to raise $4,000 through the ride. For more details, call Carol Wood at (404) 391-0609. — Jason A. SmithMore like this story
