Pair unsuccessful in attempted ATM theft

Police are searching for two people who allegedly attempted to steal an automated teller machine (ATM) from a Locust Grove gas station.

According to Henry County Police Capt. Jason Bolton, at about 3 a.m., on Tuesday, the pair entered the Liberty Gas station, located at 3248 Ga. Highway 155, near Luella Station.

They were in a van which appeared to have markings on the side similar to a church or daycare van, said Bolton. "The van is described as a light blue or light gray, multi-passenger van with white writing on the sides," he said. "The suspects drove the van through the door, to gain entry into the store."

The suspects were unable to get the ATM out of the store, and left without taking anything, although they caused extensive damage, added Bolton.

Bolton said anyone with any information about the suspects or the incident, is asked to call Detective Dan Shelley, at (770) 288-8339, or e-mail dshelley@co.henry.ga.us.
