A Clayton County woman reportedly redeemed stolen lottery tickets, at a gas station in Henry County. Candace Louise Burney, 33, of Jonesboro, is charged with unlawful influence of prizes by coercion, fraud, deception or tampering with equipment or materials.
Burney's alleged offense reportedly occurred March 22, at the QuikTrip located at 5260 North Henry Blvd., in Stockbridge. An arrest warrant obtained by Henry County Police July 29, states that Burney committed fraud and deception when she "influenced the winning of lottery tickets by presenting stolen lottery tickets [to] be redeemed for prizes, and misrepresenting the same."
She turned herself in to the Henry County Jail Tuesday, and was released the same day on $1,050 bond, according to jail records.
Burney failed to appear in Henry County Magistrate Court Wednesday, and her case was bound over to Superior Court by Judge Robert Godwin. A future hearing date in her case had not been set.
